Who should go to therapy?
I have always said there is no wrong time to go to therapy. If you feel like it can be helpful, most likely it will be!
People often find themselves noticing symptoms about their general functioning (poor sleep, loss of appetite, poor motivation, general sadness or worry, issues maintaining healthy relationships) as a sign that something is awry. Other times, the symptoms are more severe, such as self-harming behaviors, trauma, abuse, suicidal thoughts, or substance use.
Please know that I am comfortable talking about whatever symptoms are present for you in a way that feels supportive and validating. If my skills aren’t the right match for your needs, I know plenty of therapists that I can connect you with to better support your journey.

What is therapy like?
The beauty of therapy is that it is customized to meet the individual. Our first session together consists of me gathering important information about you and your experiences in addition to building rapport and helping you feel as comfortable as possible.
Then, we collaboratively develop treatment goals that will combine my clinical expertise with where you want to be.
After that, we meet as frequently as we need (most people attend weekly sessions) where we use our treatment plan to help guide our time. I offer skills, reflection, validation, and encouragement during our time together to help empower you to create positive changes in your mental health management.

Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. However, I am happy to create a super bill, which you can provide to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of therapy used to help individuals who have experienced traumatic or distressing events and experiences. I am certified in EMDR therapy and have had the pleasure of being both therapist and client. I have experienced its power firsthand and am excited to be able to provide the opportunity to heal using this modality with my community.

What is DMT?
Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is an expressive arts therapy that uses movement to help us connect and express all aspects of ourselves. I aim to assist people in integrating all parts of themselves: body, mind, and spirt.

Is tele-health therapy effective?
Absolutely! I have been working exclusively via tele-health sessions for over two years and don’t see a need to return to in-person sessions anytime soon. I am able to build rapport, implement treatment strategies, even conduct EMDR reprocessing sessions through a virtual session. I have found it has helped eliminate barriers that clients have commonly identified as reasons regular therapy services have been difficult: scheduling, time spent commuting to/from sessions, and concerns about who may see them walking into a therapist’s office.
But, don’t just take my word for it! There have been many studies validating the efficacy of tele-health therapy out there. I’m happy to send some articles your way if that would be useful!
